Paul Kawata
Kickball Director
Paul (he/him/his) has been a member of the Stonewall family since 2011, first joining as a kickball neophyte in Washington, D.C., eventually evolving into a kickball umpire, co-captain and captain. His proudest season In D.C. happened when, as captain of Hot Mess Kickers, he led a team that included six deaf players. He brings to his roles with Stonewall Sports Atlanta the lessons he learned that season about intentionality, equity and inclusion. After moving to Atlanta in 2021, he joined the Atlanta league for the Spring 2022 kickball season. His second season brought an opportunity to captain a free agent team, Centennial Conference’s Pitch Please, which led to him captaining a new free agent team each season. He jumped at the opportunity to serve as Centennial Conference Lead because he enjoys creating a safe space where players new to kickball or new to Atlanta (often both) can create new friendships or exceed their own expectations on the field.
He is married to his loving husband, Toku, and their family includes two dogs, KiKi and Bella. A music-loving foodie at heart, his favorite pastime is trying new restaurants. and performing at an open mic night at a comedy club.
